Pippa & Logan | Wedding Highlights

There are so many things I want to say about Pippa & Logan's wedding day that I don't even know where to start! Maybe by telling you how incredible these two people are, and how excited I was to celebrate the beginning of their marriage on June 1st? Yeah, that seems like a good first step.

As soon as Pippa reached out to me, I could tell we would be a good match. I had never had the opportunity to shoot a Naval Academy wedding, and both Pippa and I were excited that this would be my first! It was truly an honor to be a part of the ceremony and tradition that comes with a military wedding, and I may have even choked up during the military tribute during their reception. Living in Annapolis has introduced me to many military couples and families, and Logan and Pippa only confirmed the strength and love it takes to live that kind of lifestyle.

Their friends Becca and Juan were my escorts for the day, riding along with me to make sure I could easily get on the USNA base and show me where all the best spots were. They were nothing short of delightful (Midwesterners, I should have known), and even told me the story of Logan & Pippa's first date. It included a very patient Logan, drinks and dancing, a rainy day homemade indoor mini-golf course, and a pillow fort.

I asked Logan how he knew Pippa was The One. "I got a feeling that no matter what we were doing, or what we were going through, she was going to love me no matter what," he said. "And I felt the same thing about her."

Logan proposed in Pensacola about a month and half after she moved to Florida to be with him. "I totally knew it was coming, I just didn't know when!" Pippa told me. After being spooked by invasive seagulls and "some guy with a huge camera," Logan handed her what would become their ring bearer's box. Inside wasn't a ring, but "a super long and cryptic note. It took twenty minutes to read the dang thing! But when I was finally done he was down on one knee. He said something along the lines of 'Will you marry me' and I think I said yes. Honestly, I think I blacked out for a second."

The sword arch, the choreographed first dance, and don't even get me started on Nana. Yes, the bride's grandmother, who insists everyone call her Nana. June 1st was Nana's wedding anniversary, and this year would have been 63 years had her husband not passed a few years ago. Logan now wears his wedding ring.

After the ceremony and some of the portraits were finished, Pippa surprised Logan (and everyone else!) with a gorgeous overskirt to switch up her look. She simply couldn't decide between the two, and it's easy to see why! His reaction was so cute.

"From day one I knew he was different than anyone I had ever dated and that was scary at first," Pippa admitted. "But I now realize that I just never knew what it was like to be so unconditionally loved, supported, and understood."
